( sam is, along with elena, the only person outside of his brood he bothers to maintain a connection with when they're not actively talking. it's resulted in a pretty killer headache a couple times, but that's been happening less and getting less severe the longer he does it. he likes keeping tabs on his people, and sam is one of them, so there's always a corner of his mind dedicated to following sam around wherever he's gotten off to.
